Description

TITLE: W-Agora Local File Inclusion and File Upload Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID: SA17201

VERIFY ADVISORY: http://secunia.com/advisories/17201/

CRITICAL: Highly critical

IMPACT: Exposure of sensitive information, System access

WHERE: >From remote

SOFTWARE: W-Agora 4.x http://secunia.com/product/911/

DESCRIPTION: rgod has discovered some vulnerabilities in W-Agora, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose sensitive information and compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "site" parameter in "extras/quicklist.php" isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources.

2) The problem is that arbitrary files can be uploaded to a location inside the web root via the "browse_avatar.php" and "insert.php" scripts. This can e.g. be exploited to upload and execute a malicious PHP script.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 4.2.0. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION: 1) Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified. 2) Restrict access to the "forums" and "images/avatars/" directories. This may affect functionality.
