PostgreSQL, Inc. Replication Server

PostgreSQL Inc планирует представить первую версию своего PostgreSQL
Enterprise Replication Server к середине октября. Продукт будет
поддерживать репликации баз данных между PostgreSQL серверами и
предназначен для балансировки заргузки и организации отказоустойчивых
систем. Следуя анонсу, некоторые части eRServer будут сразу доступны под
OpenSource лицензией и войдут в PostgreSQL, некоторые появятся только
после коммерческого успеха продукта.

Visual Basic для Linux вышел.

Компания Janus Software выпустила первую версию своего языка
программирования Phoenix Object Basic. Эта среда разработки полностью
индентична Visual Basic от компании Microsoft. Правда про совместимость
с ней ничего не известно. Лицензия - closed source. Но и не совсем
коммерческая. Phoenix распространяеться под shareware лицензией. А
исходный код планируется открыть в первом квартале следующего года.

powerful tool that checks many aspects of your system's security and then
emails you with the results. The checks it performs include finding
setuid of files and directories, uid's of 0, the count of the firewall

activity has occurred), checks for failed logins, and checks for rejected
connections. As you continually use this script it will help you to
monitor the security of your system. It comes with an install script
plus a cron script.
