The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-5696-2 advisory.

  • Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Security: Privileges).
Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.39 and prior and 8.0.16 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized read access to a subset of MySQL Server accessible data. (CVE-2022-21589)

  • Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Security: Encryption).
Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.39 and prior and 8.0.29 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized read access to a subset of MySQL Server accessible data. (CVE-2022-21592)

  • Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Optimizer). Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.39 and prior and 8.0.30 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server.
Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. (CVE-2022-21608)

  • Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Connection Handling).
(CVE-2022-21617)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application’s self-reported version number.
