SCALANCE X switches are used to connect to industrial components such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or human-machine interfaces (HMIs).A denial-of-service vulnerability exists in Siemens SCALANCE XM-400 and XR-500 Devices, which could be exploited by an attacker to create a permanent denial-of-service condition by sending carefully crafted OSPF packets .
