Description
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Siemens Solid Edge Viewer. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the parsing of FBX files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a write past the end of an allocated data structure. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.

UPDATE INFORMATION\n\nThis updated advisory is a follow-up to the original advisory titled ICSA-21-035-01 Luxion KeyShot that was published February 4, 2021, on the ICS webpage on us-cert.cisa.gov.\n\n## 3\\. RISK EVALUATION\n\nSuccessful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow arbitrary code execution, the storing of arbitrary scripts into automatic startup folders, and the attacking of products without sufficient UI warning.\n\n## 4\\. TECHNICAL DETAILS\n\n### 4.1 AFFECTED PRODUCTS\n\nThe following versions of Luxion software, 3D rendering and animation software, are affected:\n\n * KeyShot versions prior to 10.1\n * KeyShot Viewer versions prior to 10.1\n * KeyShot Network Rendering versions prior to 10.1\n * KeyVR versions prior to 10.1\n\n### 4.2 VULNERABILITY OVERVIEW\n\n#### 4.2.1 [OUT-OF-BOUNDS WRITE CWE-787](<https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/787.html>)\n\nThe affected product is vulnerable to multiple out-of-bounds write issues while processing project files, which may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.\n\n[CVE-2021-22647](<http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2021-22647>) has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been calculated; the CVSS vector string is ([AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H](<https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3.0#CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H>)).\n\n#### 4.2.2 [OUT-OF-BOUNDS READ CWE-125](<https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/125.html>)\n\nThe affected product is vulnerable to an out-of-bounds read while processing project files, which may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.\n\n[CVE-2021-22643](<http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2021-22643>) has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been calculated; the CVSS vector string is ([AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H](<https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3.0#CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H>)).\n\n#### 4.2.3 [INSUFFICIENT UI WARNING OF DANGEROUS OPERATIONS CWE-357](<https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/357.html>)\n\nThe affected product is vulnerable to an attack because the .bip documents display a \u201cload\u201d command, which can be pointed to a .dll from a remote network share. As a result, the .dll entry point can be executed without sufficient UI warning.\n\n[CVE-2021-22645](<http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2021-22645>) has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been calculated; the CVSS vector string is ([AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H](<https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3.0#CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H>)).\n\n#### 4.2.4 [ UNTRUSTED POINTER DEREFERENCE CWE-822](<https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/822.html>)\n\nThe affected product has multiple NULL pointer dereference issues while processing project files, which may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.\n\n[CVE-2021-22649](<http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2021-22649>) has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been calculated; the CVSS vector string is ([AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H](<https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3.0#CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H>)).\n\n#### 4.2.5 [IMPROPER LIMITATION OF A PATHNAME TO A RESTRICTED DIRECTORY ('PATH TRAVERSAL') CWE-22](<https://cwe.mitre.org/data/definitions/22.html>)\n\nWhen loading a specially crafted file, the application, while processing the extraction of temporary files, suffers from a directory traversal vulnerability, which allows an attacker to store arbitrary scripts into automatic startup folders.\n\n[CVE-2021-22651](<http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2021-22651>) has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been calculated; the CVSS vector string is ([AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H](<https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3.0#CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H>)).\n\n### 4.3 BACKGROUND\n\n * **CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE SECTORS:** Critical Manufacturing\n * **COUNTRIES/AREAS DEPLOYED: **Worldwide\n * **COMPANY HEADQUARTERS LOCATION:** United States\n\n### 4.4 RESEARCHER\n\nrgod, working with Trend Micro\u2019s Zero Day Initiative, reported these vulnerabilities to CISA.\n\n## 5\\.
