Article Applicability

This article documents a new Plan Readiness Check parameter in Veeam Recovery Orchestrator 7.1.

Purpose

This article documents a new addition to the Plan Readiness Check in Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) v7.1.

This new check will be part of the Plan Readiness Check for all Recovery Plans and will help customers identify Recovery Plans that need to be modified to prepare for future software requirements.

Solution

Summary

Starting in VRO 7.1, the readiness check will display a warning if a Recovery Plan would require multiple Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) servers.

This alert is intended to inform customers of the configuration issue and help them prepare for the requirements for the next major version of VRO.

Explanation

It is currently possible to create a single Recovery Plan that requires multiple VBR servers to be involved in its execution or testing. Although connecting multiple VBR servers to VRO is supported, having a single Recovery Plan that utilizes more than one VBR server can lead to operational conflicts. For example, a Replica Recovery Plan cannot be tested using a VRO Datalab if two VBR servers are required because they cannot both connect to the same virtual lab at the same time.

Advised Actions

Any Recovery Plan that displays this alert in its Readiness Check should be reviewed and split into separate plans, each utilizing only one VBR server.

Future Functionality Changes

In the next major version of VRO, each Recovery Location must have a single Veeam Backup & Replication specified. Therefore, because a Recovery Plan is executed with one chosen Recovery Location, this change will require each Recovery Plan to operate exclusively with the VBR server managing that location. For that reason, the new readiness check will help customers identify Recovery Plans utilizing more than one VBR server.

Note: It will remain possible to connect multiple VBR servers to VRO. The new requirement is that each Recovery Plan and each Recovery Location must use a specific VBR server.
