The Maze ransomware, also known as "ChaCha ransomware", was discovered in 2019 with the main goal to encrypt files on infected systems and demand ransom for recovery. It threatens to release information on the Internet if ransom is not paid, as witnessed in the case of a company whose files were leaked. The malware has been distributed through various techniques such as exploit kits, weak remote desktop connections, and email impersonation. Maze is actively protected against analysis and has targeted malware researchers. McAfee provides protection against this threat in all its products
