QakBot, also known as QBot, QuakBot, and Pinkslipbot, is a highly sophisticated banking trojan with a substantial history of malicious activity dating back to at least 2007. The malware has worm-like capabilities, utilizes evasion techniques, and can download and execute additional malware on victims' systems. QakBot has been associated with dropping various ransomware strains and has been observed to spread through phishing emails and malicious attachments. There has been a substantial seven-fold increase in QBot detections from January 2023 to June 2023, with the United States experiencing the highest prevalence of attacks during this period.
