FBI dismantles QakBot malware, frees 700,000 computers, seizes $8.6 million. Operation Duck Hunt felled QakBot, a notorious Windows malware facilitating financial fraud and ransomware. Various countries & Zscaler aided in the takedown of the largest U.S.-led financial and technical disruption of a botnet infrastructure. QakBot received approximately $58 million in ransoms paid by victims. The QakBot malware was distributed through phishing emails and remotely controlled infected computers. The joint effort enabled access to QakBot infrastructure and redirected the botnet traffic to servers controlled by the FBI
