kernel: SVM nested virtualization issue in KVM (AVIC support)
A flaw was found in the KVM's AMD code for supporting SVM nested virtualization. The flaw occurs when processing the VMCB virtual machine control block provided by the L1 guest to spawn/handle a nested guest L2. Due to improper validation of the "intctl" field, this issue could allow a malicious ...

A flaw was found in the KVM's AMD code for supporting SVM nested virtualization. The flaw occurs when processing the VMCB (virtual machine control block) provided by the L1 guest to spawn/handle a nested guest (L2). Due to improper validation of the "int_ctl" field this issue could allow a malicious L1 to enable AVIC support (Advanced Virtual Interrupt Controller) for the L2 guest. As a result the L2 guest would be allowed to read/write physical pages of the host resulting in a crash of the entire system leak of sensitive data or potential guest-to-host escape. This flaw affects Linux kernel versions prior to 5.14-rc7.

Maxim Levitsky and Paolo Bonzini discovered that the KVM hypervisor implementation for AMD processors in the Linux kernel allowed a guest VM to disable restrictions on VMLOAD/VMSAVE in a nested guest. An attacker in a guest VM could use this to read or write portions of the host's physical memory...
USN-5062-1 linux, linux-aws, linux-kvm, linux-lts-xenial vulnerability
Maxim Levitsky discovered that the KVM hypervisor implementation for AMD processors in the Linux kernel did not properly prevent a guest VM from enabling AVIC in nested guest VMs. An attacker in a guest VM could use this to write to portions of the host's physical memory...

QEMU: msix: OOB access during mmio operations may lead to DoS
An out-of-bounds access flaw was found in the Message Signalled Interrupt MSI-X device support of QEMU. This issue occurs while performing MSI-X mmio operations when a guest sent address goes beyond the mmio region. A guest user or process may use this flaw to crash the QEMU process resulting in ...
qemu: out-of-bound heap buffer access via an interrupt ID field
An out-of-bounds heap buffer access issue was found in the ARM Generic Interrupt Controller emulator of QEMU on aarch64 platform. The issue occurs because while writing an interrupt ID to the controller memory area, it is not masked to be 4 bits wide. It may lead to the said issue while updating...
