PenTestIT RSS Feed **Kali Linux 2019.3,** the latest and the greatest Kali Linux release is now officially available! This is the third 2019 release, which comes after _[Kali Linux 2019.2]()_. This release includes the normal bugs fixes, updates the kernel to version 5.2.9, and includes various new features across the board with NetHunter, ARM and packages. This is the first Kali Linux LXD container image release as well! ![Kali Linux 2019.3](http://pentestit.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Kali-Linux.png) ## What’s new in Kali Linux 2019.3? On the services front, one of the first changes you will see is that Kali Linux images now uses the CloudFlare content delivery network (CDN) for file distribution purposes. A status page - [status.kali.org]() providing you with an overview of all Kali Linux'es public facing domains is also available. It allows you to check if they are responding correctly. When it comes to the OS, the move towards metapackages is going smoothly. Going ahead, tools will be evaluated according to the following groups: * Kali-linux-default – tools we believe are essential to a penetration tester * Kali-linux-large – for penetration testers who have a wider set of non standard/common situations * Kali-linux-everything – for those who want it all (available without Internet access during the assessment) [Kali Linux 2019.3]() also contains a few “helper scripts”, which include a brief description about the package you are trying to invoke along with a directory listing. You are then moved to the folder on the CLI. Currently released Kali Linux helper scripts include windows-binaries, [mimikatz](), windows-privesc-check, Windows Credentials Editor (_WCE_), seclists, webshells, wordlists, [powersploit]() and powercat. The following tools have been updated: _HostAPd-WPE 2.9, Burp Suite 2.1.02, Nmap 7.80, Kismet 2019-04-R1_ and _Hyperion crypter 2.0_. Additionally, _Amass v2.3.0_ and _Payloadsallthethings_ have also been added to this release. This release also takes care that virtualization related packages are automatically installed. With this release kali-defaults 2019.3.9 now disables `gnome-software-service` on session startup by diverting the file in `/etc/xdg/autostart/`. It also contains supplementary `gsettings` to cope with the other errors. base-files 2019.3.0 disables the APT timers by default. However, you now need the newer ISO file for this to work properly. Coming to the mobile platform updates, the NetHunter app store now has two new tools - _Rucky_ (a HID Keyboard Rubber Ducky attack launcher) and my favourite _Termux_. The following devices now find support as well _LG V20 International Edition, Nexus 5X, Nexus 10_ and _OnePlus 7_. **OnePlus 7** is now the phone recommend for Kali NetHunter. For ARM devices this release, support for the [PINEBOOK]() as well as the [Gateworks Ventana]() machines has been added. The RaspberryPi kernel has been bumped to version 4.19.66, which includes support for all of the RAM on 64-bit versions of the RaspberryPi 4. The RaspberryPi Zero W has seen improvements as well. The ODROID-C2 kernel has been bumped to version 3.16.72 as well. ## Download Kali Linux 2019.3: As we all know, you can simply run _apt update && apt -y full-upgrade_ to update to the latest Kali Linux version.
