CVE-2024-42136
CVE-2024-42136 affects the Linux kernel cdrom subsystem. The issue stems from an arithmetic path in last_media_change that could trigger a signed integer overflow under UBSAN when running syzkaller; the issue is resolved by rearranging the check to avoid any arithmetic, preventing the overflow. T...

CVE-2024-40928
CVE-2024-40928 – Linux kernel ethtool statistics fix : The issue arises from a null function pointer in ethtool_get_phy_stats when performing phy stats ioctl. The patch fixes the error handling by returning -EOPNOTSUPP when ops->get_ethtool_phy_stats is NULL, preventing a null-dereference in n...

The vulnerability of Clang’s tooling interface for developing, optimizing, and compiling software using the LLVM framework allows attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause service interruptions.
The vulnerability of Clang’s toolset for developing, optimizing, and compiling software involves an operation that occurs outside the buffer in memory when processing LR registers, due to incorrect code generation. Exploiting this vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code o...
LLVM before 18.1.3 generates code in which the LR register can be overwritten without data being saved to the stack and thus there can sometimes be an exploitable error in the flow of control. This affects the ARM backend and can be demonstrated with Clang. NOTE: the vendor perspective is "we don't have strong objections for a CVE to be created ... It does seem that the likelihood of this miscompile enabling an exploit remains very low because the miscompile resulting in this JOP gadget is such that the function is most likely to crash on most valid inputs to the function. So if this function is covered by any testing the miscompile is most likely to be discovered before the binary is shipped to production."
