2.806 Vulnerability in firefox browser (CVE-2020-6819 and CVE-2020-6820)

1. Vulnerability description:

Two critical vulnerabilities have been discovered that could lead to the execution of attacker code when processing specially formatted content. It is warned that facts of using these vulnerabilities to carry out attacks have already been detected on the network. The problems are caused by accessing already freed memory areas (use-after-free) when processing ReadableStream (CVE-2020-6820) and when executing the nsDocShell destructor (CVE-2020-6819).

2. Possible measures to eliminate the vulnerability

Install security updates.**Install updates in the following ways:**a) If the computer with the installed OS version has access to the vendor’s official repository, run the update as administrator with the command:# yum updateAfter the list of updated packages is displayed, agree to apply updates by pressing the Y key on the keyboard. Wait until the update installation is complete and make sure that there are no errors during its installation.b)If the computer with the installed OS version does not have access to the vendor’s official repository, you should perform the following actions: - download the updated package: http://repo.red-soft.ru/redos/7.2c/x86_64/updates/firefox-60.9.0-4.el7.x86_64.rpm Check the integrity and authenticity of the package according to instructionsInstall the downloaded package with the command:# yum localinstall firefox-60.9.0-4.el7.x86_64.rpmWhen the list of updated packages is displayed, agree to apply the updates by pressingY on the keyboard. Wait for the update installation to complete and make sure that there are no errors during the update installation. It is recommended to restart the browser after the update.
