2.639 Vulnerability in VLC (CVE-2019-19721, CVE-2020-6071, CVE-2020-6072, CVE-2020-6073, CVE-2020-6077, CVE-2020-6078, CVE-2020-6079)

1. Vulnerability Description:

The vulnerability allows a remote user to: - create a customized image file that can cause an out-of-bounds read, - send a specially crafted request to discover the microdns service, potentially causing various memory management issues.FSTEC Russia Information Security Threat Data Bank Identifier: BDU:2020-03597

2. Possible measures to address the vulnerability

User should refrain from opening files from untrusted third parties or accessing untrusted remote sites (or disable VLC browser plugins) until the patch is applied. Until VLC is updated, it is not recommended to use network discovery. or - install security updates for the package: vlc-3.0.4Installing updates is possible in the following ways:**a) if the computer with the installed version of the OS has access to the official repository of the manufacturer, you need to run the update as administrator with the command:# yum updateWhen the list of updated packages is displayed, agree to apply updates by pressing theY**key on the keyboard. Wait for the updates to finish installing and make sure that there are no errors during their installation.
