Kali Linux 2019.1 is the latest Kali Linux release. This is the first 2019 release, which comes after Kali Linux 2018.4, that was made available in the month of October. This new release includes all patches, fixes, updates, and improvements since the last release – Kali Linux 2018.3, including a shiny new Linux kernel version 4.19.13 and upgrades to a lot of tools. Importantly, it also includes support for Banana Pi and Banana Pro.

What’s new in Kali Linux 2019.1?

The biggest tool updates is Metasploit 5.0, which includes database and automation APIs, new evasion capabilities, and a lot of usability improvements. As mentioned earlier, this version now supports for Banana Pi and Banana Pro ARM devices. Moreover, includes updated packages for theHarvester 3.0.0, DBeaver 5.2.3, and more.

The following bugs have also been quashed in Kali Linux 2019.1:

  • 0005096: [Kali Package Bug] Freeradius-wpe package has unment dependencies (sbrun)
  • 0005085/0005061: [General Bug] xfsettingsd(in package of xfce4-setting) caused high cpu load every 2 or 3 sec. (steev)
  • 0005086/0004970 : [Kali Package Improvement] For Peepdf functionality, add build and add PyV8 package to Kali repo (sbrun)
  • 0005087/0005064 : [Kali Package Bug] Metasploit Function 'info' Bug (sbrun)
  • 0004996: [Kali Package Bug] Get rid of python-restkit in Kali (rhertzog)
