The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version CORE 5.04 / MAIN 5.04, has kernel packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

  • DISPUTED A memory leak in the nl80211_get_ftm_responder_stats() function in net/wireless/nl80211.c in the Linux kernel through 5.3.11 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by triggering nl80211hdr_put() failures, aka CID-1399c59fa929. NOTE: third parties dispute the relevance of this because it occurs on a code path where a successful allocation has already occurred. (CVE-2019-19055)

  • In the Linux kernel before 5.3.11, sound/core/timer.c has a use-after-free caused by erroneous code refactoring, aka CID-e7af6307a8a5. This is related to snd_timer_open and snd_timer_close_locked. The timeri variable was originally intended to be for a newly created timer instance, but was used for a different purpose after refactoring. (CVE-2019-19807)

  • In the Linux kernel before 5.7.8, fs/nfsd/vfs.c (in the NFS server) can set incorrect permissions on new filesystem objects when the filesystem lacks ACL support, aka CID-22cf8419f131. This occurs because the current umask is not considered. (CVE-2020-24394)

  • An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.11.3. A kernel pointer leak can be used to determine the address of the iscsi_transport structure. When an iSCSI transport is registered with the iSCSI subsystem, the transportโ€™s handle is available to unprivileged users via the sysfs file system, at /sys/class/iscsi_transport/$TRANSPORT_NAME/handle. When read, the show_transport_handle function (in drivers/scsi/scsi_transport_iscsi.c) is called, which leaks the handle. This handle is actually the pointer to an iscsi_transport struct in the kernel moduleโ€™s global variables. (CVE-2021-27363)

  • An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.11.3. Certain iSCSI data structures do not have appropriate length constraints or checks, and can exceed the PAGE_SIZE value. An unprivileged user can send a Netlink message that is associated with iSCSI, and has a length up to the maximum length of a Netlink message. (CVE-2021-27365)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the applicationโ€™s self-reported version number.
