"The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the
AXSA:2014-443:03 advisory.
Samba is the suite of programs by which a lot of PC-related machines
share files, printers, and other information (such as lists of
available files and printers). The Windows NT, OS/2, and Linux
operating systems support this natively, and add-on packages can
enable the same thing for DOS, Windows, VMS, UNIX of all kinds, MVS,
and more. This package provides an SMB/CIFS server that can be used to
provide network services to SMB/CIFS clients.
Samba uses NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) protocols and does NOT
need the NetBEUI (Microsoft Raw NetBIOS frame) protocol.
Security issues fixed with this release:
* CVE-2014-0244
The sys_recvfrom function in nmbd in Samba 3.6.x before 3.6.24, 4.0.x before 4.0.19, and 4.1.x before
4.1.9 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption) via a
malformed UDP packet.
* CVE-2014-3493
The push_ascii function in smbd in Samba 3.6.x before 3.6.24, 4.0.x before 4.0.19, and 4.1.x before 4.1.9
allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and daemon crash) via an
attempt to read a Unicode pathname without specifying use of Unicode, leading to a character-set
conversion failure that triggers an invalid pointer dereference.
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version
number.");
