"The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the
AXSA:2013-133:01 advisory.
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol which allows individual devices on an IP network
to get their own network configuration information (IP address, subnetmask, broadcast address, etc.) from
a DHCP server. The overall purpose of DHCP is to make it easier to administer a large network. The dhcp
package includes the ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
To use DHCP on your network, install a DHCP service (or relay agent), and on clients run a DHCP client
daemon. The dhcp package provides the ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2012-3955
ISC DHCP 4.1.x before 4.1-ESV-R7 and 4.2.x before 4.2.4-P2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of
service (daemon crash) in opportunistic circumstances by establishing an IPv6 lease in an environment
where the lease expiration time is later reduced.
Fixed bugs:
Previously, on networks interfaces configured with more that one IP address, the DHCP server only
discovered the first one and would fail to restart if the server only served a subnet of the remaining IP
addresses. This has been fixed.
Previously, despite having been stopped, the dhclient rewrote the /etc/resolv.conf file with backup data
even if the PEERDNS flag was set to no before shut down if the configuration file was changed while the
dhclient ran with PEERDNS=yes. This has been fixed, the dhclient no longer rewrites the /etc/resolv.conf
file when stopped. (BZ#824622)
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version
number.");
