"The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the
AXSA:2012-829:07 advisory.
The kernel package contains the Linux kernel (vmlinuz), the core of any Linux operating system. The kernel
handles the basic functions of the operating system: memory allocation, process allocation, device input
and output, etc.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2012-2744
net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_conntrack_reasm.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.34, when the nf_conntrack_ipv6
module is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and
system crash) via certain types of fragmented IPv6 packets.
CVE-2012-2745
The copy_creds function in kernel/cred.c in the Linux kernel before 3.3.2 provides an invalid replacement
session keyring to a child process, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (panic) via a
crafted application that uses the fork system call.
Fixed bugs:
r8169: fixed typo in firmware filenames
libata: Add 2GB ATA Flash Disk/ADMA428M to DMA blacklist
nfs: Map minor mismatch error to protocol not support error
ext4: Fix overflow caused by missing cast in ext4_fallocate()
futex:
Fix regression with read only mappings
Fix uninterruptible loop due to gate_area
[net] bonding:
Fix up refcounting issues with bond/vlan config
Always add vid to new slave group
Fixed regression on vlan module removal
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version
number.");
