"The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the
AXSA:2012-1055:03 advisory.
The libtiff package contains a library of functions for manipulating TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) image
format files. TIFF is a widely used file format for bitmapped images. TIFF files usually end in the .tif
extension and they are often quite large.
The libtiff package should be installed if you need to manipulate TIFF format image files.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2012-3401
The t2p_read_tiff_init function in tiff2pdf (tools/tiff2pdf.c) in LibTIFF 4.0.2 and earlier does not
properly initialize the T2P context struct pointer in certain error conditions, which allows context-
dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted
TIFF image that triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2012-4447
Heap-based buffer overflow in tif_pixarlog.c in LibTIFF before 4.0.3 allows remote attackers to cause a
denial of service (application crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted TIFF image using
the PixarLog Compression format.
CVE-2012-4564
ppm2tiff does not check the return value of the TIFFScanlineSize function, which allows remote attackers
to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted PPM image that
triggers an integer overflow, a zero-memory allocation, and a heap-based buffer overflow.
CVE-2012-5581
