"The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the
AXSA:2010-138:01 advisory.
SystemTap is an instrumentation system for systems running Linux 2.6.
Developers can write instrumentation to collect data on the operation of the system.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2009-4273
stap-server in SystemTap before 1.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell
metacharacters in stap command-line arguments in a request.
CVE-2010-0411
Multiple integer signedness errors in the (1) __get_argv and (2) __get_compat_argv functions in
tapset/aux_syscalls.stp in SystemTap 1.1 allow local users to cause a denial of service (script crash, or
system crash or hang) via a process with a large number of arguments, leading to a buffer overflow.
Other bugs:
- fixed some test cases that were set as executables
- on-file flight file recording
- added support for tracepoints
- added log rotation
- Add location of man pages.
- Upstream release.
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version
