"The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the
AXSA:2009-06:01 advisory.
Avahi is a system which facilitates service discovery on a local network -- this means that you can plug
your laptop or computer into a network and instantly be able to view other people who you can chat with,
find printers to print to or find files being shared. This kind of technology is already found in MacOS X
(branded 'Rendezvous', 'Bonjour' and sometimes 'ZeroConf') and is very convenient.
Bug fixed:
CVE-2008-5081:
The originates_from_local_legacy_unicast_socket function (avahi-core/server.c) in avahi-daemon in Avahi
before 0.6.24 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted mDNS packet with
a source port of 0, which triggers an assertion failure.
Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version
number.");
