This security update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

Addressed issue where applications based on the Microsoft JET Database Engine (Microsoft Access 2007 and older or non-Microsoft applications) fail when creating or opening Microsoft Excel .xls files. The error message is: “Unexpected error from external database driver (1). (Microsoft JET Database Engine)".
Security updates to Microsoft Windows Search Component, Windows Media Player, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows kernel, and Windows kernel-mode drivers.

Known issues in this update

Symptom	Workaround
After you install this update, some Epson SIDM (Dot Matrix) and TM (POS) printers cannot print on x86 and x64-based systems.	This issue has been resolved in KB4055038.
