Phony tech investor John Bernard, aka John Clifton Davies, scammed technology companies of $30M with promises of investments, while allegedly being involved in hacking, smuggling, bank fraud, and murder. He eluded justice in the UK, and with the help of associates like Katherine Miller (aka Ecaterina Dudorenko) and Sergey Valentinov Pankov, he ran a scheme where due diligence fees were paid to a firm secretly owned by him.
