The Florida town of Oldsmar's water system was targeted in an attempted poisoning when a hacker remotely increased the level of sodium hydroxide in the water supply to a dangerous level. Despite being caught, the incident highlighted the vulnerability of many unattended and underfunded water systems in the United States
