Potential Denial of Service (DoS) security vulnerability in IBM Sterling External Authentication Server due to a Java HashTable security vulnerability in Jetty (CVE-2011-4461).

SUMMARY: Potential Denial of Service (Dos) security vulnerability in IBM Sterling External Authentication Server due to multiple Java HashTable security vulnerabilities in the embedded Jetty web server.

VULNERABILITY DETAILS:

CVE ID: CVE-2011-4461

**DESCRIPTION:**IBM Sterling External Authentication Server is potentially vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks because one of its embedded components Jetty has multiple security vulnerability. The vulnerability is caused by insufficient randomization of hash data structures. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the consumption of CPU resources. Customers who are using IBM Sterling External Authentication Server may be impacted by this Jetty vulnerability which can cause performance or Denial of Service (DoS) issues.

Version 2.2.00 through 2.2.0.2
Version 2.3.1.0 through 2.3.1.9
Version 2.4.0.0 through 2.4.0.2

REMEDIATION:

The recommended solution is to apply the fix for each version as soon as practical. See below for information on fixes available.

For V2.2.0.0 through 2.3.1.9:

• Install Fix Pack 10 (2.3.1.10) or later if your environment is not already at this level. Customers at releases prior to SEAS 2.3.1 should use this Fix Pack to upgrade to SEAS 2.3.1.10.

For V2.4.0.0 through 2.4.0.4:

• Install Fix Pack 3 (2.4.0.3) or later if your environment is not already at this level.

For V2.4.1.0 through 2.4.1.4:

• Install Fix Pack 1 (2.4.1.1).
