Summary

This bulletin addresses several security vulnerabilities.

There are multiple vulnerabilities in IBM® Runtime Environment Java™ Technology Edition, Version 6 and IBM® Runtime Environment Java™ Technology Edition, Version 7 that are used by IBM Cognos Business Intelligence. These issues were disclosed as part of the IBM Java SDK updates in April 2017 and July 2017.

IBM Cognos Business Intelligence uses Apache POI. Apache POI is vulnerable to denial of service attacks which could cause the application to enter into an infinite loop and deadlock or consume all available CPU resources. These vulnerabilities have been addressed.

IBM Cognos Business Intelligence has addressed a vulnerability in libpng that could be exploited to cause a denial of service.

IBM Cognos Business Intelligence consumes the Apache Xerces-C XML Parser library. This library is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a stack-based buffer overflow when parsing a deeply nested DTD. This vulnerability has been addressed.
