Vulnerabilities in OpenSSL were disclosed on Jan 28, 2016 by openssl.org. OpenSSL 1.0.1s, used by IBM Tivoli Netcool System Service Monitors/Application Service Monitors, has addressed these vulnerabilities.
CVE-ID: CVE-2015-3197 DESCRIPTION: OpenSSL could allow a remote attacker to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks, caused by an error related to the negotiation of disabled SSLv2 ciphers by malicious SSL/TLS clients. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to conduct man-in-the-middle attacks.
CVSS Base Score: 5.4
CVSS Temporal Score: See https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/110235 for the current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined

CVE-ID: CVE-2015-4000 (contd) DESCRIPTION: The TLS protocol could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by the failure to properly convey a DHE_EXPORT ciphersuite choice (aka “Logjam”).
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Temporal Score: See https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/103294 for the current score

“Logjam” was/is a previously known/reported risk/issue. OpenSSL issued version 1.0.1n to address and mitigate the risk. IBM Tivoli Netcool System Service Monitors/Application Service Monitors versions 4.0.0.14-IF07 and 4.0.1.2-IF03 were updated to use OpenSSL 1.0.1p; so they contain the recommended mitigations. However, at the time, the OpenSSL team also published an intention to provide a stronger mitigation at some point in the future in their published article “Upcoming changes in OpenSSL”. That extra mitigation arrived on Jan 28, 2016, in a further release (OpenSSL 1.0.1r). IBM Tivoli Netcool System Service Monitors/Application Service Monitors versions 4.0.0.14-IF08 and 4.0.1.2-IF04 have been updated to use OpenSSL 1.0.1s which was released to address other specific issues but included all previous fixes.
These staged mitigations of OpenSSL mean that the minimum length Diffie-Hellman key exchange was set to 768 bits in 1.0.1n and to 1024 bits since 1.0.1r (and later).
