Security Bulletin: This Power System update is being released to address CVE-2019-4169

Summary

POWER9: In response to an IPMI implementation error, a new Power System firmware update is being released to address Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures issue number CVE 2019-4169.

Workarounds and Mitigations

Disabling IPMI local area network (LAN) access via IPMI inband commands will mitigate the vulnerability until the fix can be applied.

Run the following IPMI inband command to disable IPMI LAN access: “ipmitool lan set 1 access off”.

Run the following IPMI inband command to reenable IPMI LAN access: “ipmitool lan set 1 access on”.
