**DESCRIPTION:**Apache Log4j is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by the failure to protect from uncontrolled recursion from self-referential lookups. A remote attacker with control over Thread Context Map (MDC) input data could craft malicious input data that contains a recursive lookup to cause a StackOverflowError that will terminate the process. Note: The vulnerability is also called LOG4J2-3230.

Workarounds and Mitigations

For log4j the vulnerable log4j library is included in an installable but not deployed application ear file, uddi.ear. ITM does not deploy the uddi application but scanners will complain about it’s presence. Until you are able to apply this patch, you can delete the ear file without any issue.

The uddi.ear file is located in the “iw” component platform (PLAT) directory under your CANDLEHOME installation directory.

For Unix or Linux run: $CANDLEHOME/bin/cinfo -t iw

and use the platform (PLAT) column in the output

i.e. rm $CANDLEHOME/aix536/iw/installableApps/uddi.ear
