PowerKVM is affected by two vulnerabilities in libvirt. These vulnerabilities are now fixed.
CVEID: CVE-2015-5313**
DESCRIPTION:** libvirt could allow a local attacker to traverse directories on the system, caused by an error in the virStorageBackendFileSystemVolCreate function within storage/storage_backend_fs.c when fine-grained Access Control Lists (ACL) are enabled. An attacker could use “virsh vol-create-as” command with “dot dot” sequences (/…/) in the volume name to create arbitrary files on the system.
CVSS Base Score: 4
CVSS Temporal Score: See https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/112670 for the current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined

CVEID: CVE-2016-5008**
DESCRIPTION:** Libvirt could allow a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by the failure to properly disable password checking when the password on a VNC server is set to an empty string. By connecting to the server, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass authentication and establish a VNC session.

PowerKVM 2.1 and PowerKVM 3.1
Customers can update PowerKVM systems by using “yum update”.
Fix images are made available via Fix Central. For version 3.1, see https://ibm.biz/BdHggw for 3.1.0.2 update 1 or later.
For version 2.1, see PowerKVM 2.1.1.3-65. Update 11 at https://ibm.biz/BdEnT8 or later. Customers running v2.1 are, in any case, encouraged to upgrade to v3.1.
For v2.1 systems currently running fix levels of PowerKVM prior to 2.1.1, please see <http://download4.boulder.ibm.com/sar/CMA/OSA/05e4c/0/README> for prerequisite fixes and instructions.
