Security Bulletin: IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight vulnerabilities in third party libraries (CVE-2021-39239, CVE-2022-23308, CVE-2021-29424, CVE-2020-15250, 177835)

Summary

A vulnerability in the libxml2 library can cause a denial of service in IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight. Other vulnerabilities that do not impact Identity Insight are present in four libraries that are currently included with the product but not used.

Remediation/Fixes

IBM recommends addressing the vulnerability by downloading and applying an interim fix from IBM Fix Central:

• For version 9, update to Identity Insight 9 Interim Fix 8.
• For version 10, update to Identity Insight 10 Interim Fix 2.

Both interim fixes include instructions.

Note:
The libxml2 library is used by the IBM InfoSphere Identity Insight (II) pipeline to read, parse, and manipulate XML data. The fix updates it to a newer version.

The commons-codec-1.10.jar, commons-io-2.4.jar, jena-core-2.11.0.jar, and junit-4.12.jar libraries were present in Identity Insight versions 9 and 10 but were only used in testing and were not called by the product. The fix now removes these libraries entirely.
