What is Ransomware

Ransomware is a type of malicious software that blocks access to data until a ransom is paid. Once installed, ransomware encrypts files on the victim's computer and displays a message with the amount and instructions on how to pay the ransom (e.g., cryptocurrency transfer). Unfortunately, complying with these terms does not guarantee the victim a restored access to their files.
