Security Advisory Description
The control mode (mode 6) functionality in ntpd in NTP before 4.2.8p9 allows remote attackers to set or unset traps via a crafted control mode packet. (CVE-2016-9310)
Impact
In default configurations, F5 products are not vulnerable. If you remove the default restrict default noquery statement from thentpdprocess configuration, a specially crafted control mode packet can setntpdtraps, providing information disclosure and DDoS amplification, and unsetntpd traps, disabling legitimate monitoring.
