A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in versions prior to NETGEAR R8000 1.0.4.2, a wireless router from NETGEAR. The vulnerability stems from a network system or product that does not properly validate data boundaries when performing operations on memory, resulting in incorrect read and write operations being performed to other memory locations in association. An attacker could use this vulnerability to cause a buffer overflow or heap overflow, among other things.
