Description

Koen van Hove discovered that the rsync client incorrectly validated filenames returned by servers. If a user or automated system were tricked into connecting to a malicious server, a remote attacker could use this issue to write arbitrary files, and possibly excalate privileges. Update Instructions: Run sudo pro fix USN-5921-1 to fix the vulnerability. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: rsync – 3.1.3-8ubuntu0.5 No subscription required

The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • Upgrade all versions to 0.355.0 or greater

  • Upgrade all versions to 0.71.0 or greater

  • Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.93 or greater
