Summary

  • Cisco Security has detected significant activity related to spam email messages that claim to contain a money transfer notice for the recipient. The text in the email message attempts to convince the recipient to open the attachment to acknowledge the receipt. However, the .rar attachment contains a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.

Email messages that are related to this threat (RuleID8877) may contain the following files:

wire receipt.exe

The wire receipt.exe file size in the wire receipt.rar attachment is unavailable. The MD5 checksum is also unavailable.
