Summary

  • Cisco Security has detected significant activity related to Italian-language spam email messages that claim to contain an interest rate change notice for the recipient. The text in the email message attempts to convince the recipient to open the link to view additional details. However, the link contains a .zip file containing a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.

Email messages that are related to this threat (RuleID8639) may contain the following files:

The Service.Pdf_____.exe_ file in the Service.zip archive has a file size of 81,920 bytes. The MD5 checksum, which is a unique identifier of the executable, is the following string: 0x9144795F0658D772F158085B1582ABBC
