A vulnerability in Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client and Cisco Host Scan could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against the user of the client when AnyConnect is launched through the web interface.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of a URL used to build a path for an applet in a Document Object Model. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to click a malicious URL.

This vulnerability has been reported to Cisco by Jason Sinchak

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates.

To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to persuade the user to follow the provided link.

Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
