Microsoft Windows contains a privilege escalation vulnerability that could allow an authenticated, local attacker to gain complete control of the affected system.
Winlogon is the component of Microsoft Windows responsible for interactive, security related functions.
Upon logon, Winlogon parses the system directory, user directory, and current working directory to load the appropriate user profile settings and applications. The default load order in Microsoft Windows 2000 may allow an autheticated, local attacker to elevate their user privleges by placing a specially crafted DLL in the user directory or current working directory.
An authenticated, local attacker can elevate their privleges to gain complete control of the system, including the ability to install programs, view, change or delete data, or create new accounts.
