DoS (Denial of Service) org.apache.avro:avro Dependency in Jira Software Data Center and Server

This High severity org.apache.avro:avro Dependency vulnerability was introduced in versions 8.20.0, 9.0.0, 9.1.0, 9.2.0, 9.3.0, 9.4.0, 9.5.0, 9.6.0, 9.7.0, 9.8.0, 9.9.0, 9.10.0, 9.11.0, and 9.12.0 of Jira Software Data Center and Server.

This org.apache.avro:avro Dependency vulnerability, with a CVSS Score of 7.5 and a CVSS Vector of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H allows an unauthenticated attacker to expose assets in your environment susceptible to exploitation which has no impact to confidentiality, no impact to integrity, high impact to availability, and requires no user interaction.

The National Vulnerability Database provides the following description for this vulnerability: When deserializing untrusted or corrupted data, it is possible for a reader to consume memory beyond the allowed constraints and thus lead to out of memory on the system.

This issue affects Java applications using Apache Avro Java SDK up to and including 1.11.2. Users should update to apache-avro version 1.11.3 which addresses this issue.
