Enabling Workforce Productivity in Challenging Times

As the world shifts to an increasingly virtual environment, Akamai continues to be at the forefront of helping customers enable workforce productivity with Akamai's Enterprise Application Access and Enterprise Threat Protector. From our detailed offer to our recent Edge Live Virtual Summit, where Akamai executives spoke about enabling a remote workforce on our platform, we have shared programs and processes around ensuring business continuity. This continues to be a concern for many organizations. As Gartner has previously noted, "Few enterprises are prepared to enable remote access for all employees at once to support remote work during emergencies such as the COVID-19 crisis."

Over the past few weeks, we have been privileged to help in these efforts and have customer stories from across the world where we are assisting, particularly in places and businesses that have had the most disruption.

In Asia, we were able to greatly accelerate an existing customer's deployment schedule when a remote workforce policy was suddenly put into place for the entire company. Instead of a phased rollout over months, we pivoted to ensure a fast deployment to tens of thousands of employees, and granted secure access to critical applications, in a few weeks.

In Europe, when a new critical infrastructure customer needed to implement secure application access for thousands of users, we accelerated the timeline for their onboarding, deployment, and rollout to a matter of weeks.

In the United States, we have been assisting customers in both the public and private sectors.

One of the nation's largest counties turned to Enterprise Application Access to facilitate business continuity, and thousands of users were provisioned overnight to comply with a shelter-in-place order. County employees were able to use their devices at home to securely access authorized resources, without exposing the county's network to risk.

Our private sector customer Priceline was able to quickly give its customer service agents Enterprise Application Access so they could continue to work safely from home, and reassure their customers. Priceline's story, from our Edge Live 2020 conference, can be seen here.
